English is an interesting subject. It may seem difficult but the more you encounter it, you can see that there is more than meets the eye.
I have encountered English ever since childhood. My parents taught me about the basics that can help me in my schooling. When I started going to school, I learned more about it even though everything seems to keep repeating every time.
I remember during my elementary days, I find English boring and grammar very difficult. Writing, defining and understanding things about it is very bothersome for me. Even though I manage to get decent scores, every time there is a composition that is needed to be made, my smiles turns to frowns and I will start thinking, “Here we go again.”
Yes, English is difficult but it is if and only if we do not have the interest to learn and to develop. As I look back at my elementary days, I know now why I found it hard. My bad impression towards it cause my mind to block everything about learning English.
But during my high school days, I was given a chance to see new sides of English which I was unaware before. Because of the new ways our high school English teachers had in teaching, I slowly started liking and understanding it. I opened my mind to new things I learned and began to appreciate some literary works. I started reading books and also writing little composition which in my opinion still needs improvements.
Those bothersome essay works, which is still a little bothersome, become something I slowly accepted. Still, I have many problems in it especially in arranging my thoughts.
Now that I am in college, I know there are more wonderful things and difficulties I will meet. That is why, I am hoping to learn more about English, especially in grammar. I want to explore my hidden potentials in writing and in speaking. I want to have more passion regarding the language. I want to see English not as a subject compulsory for learning but something I can love and enjoy. 😀
